Art historian and curator, graduated in Art History from the Faculty of Arts of Comenius University in Bratislava (1980). Worked at the Institute of Art History of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (1983–1994). Employed at the Slovak National Gallery since 1994, serving as SNG Director General between 1999 and 2009, and from 2010 as curator of the collections of modern and contemporary art. Since 2023 has been a researcher at the Institute of Art History in the Art Research Centre of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. Specialises in Slovak visual art of the 20th and 21st centuries.
