Lecture: Dr. Lora Sariaslan

Dr. Lora Sariaslan lectures in modern and contemporary art at Utrecht University and specializes in transnational art practices, cultural and identity politics, migration and urban mapping. She studied art history at Knox College and the University of Texas at Austin, and received her PhD from the University of Amsterdam. Her scholarly work explores the intersection of contemporary culture, curating, and museums.

In her talk, she will reflect on contemporary art institutions from the perspective of her own working experiences, which range from the Dallas Museum of Art to the Istanbul Modern. She has curated major exhibitions around the world, including the Venice Biennale, and authored numerous publications. In academia, her main interests are research, writing scholarly articles, and lecturing. She is a member of AICA and the European Museum Forum (EMF) National Correspondent for Turkey.

The lecture is part of the accompanying program to the long-term exhibition Model: Museum of Contemporary Art.

The lecture will be held in English.
