coordinates the computerisation and implementation of information technologies within the system of galleries
ensures the digitisation of processing managing and making available data on collection items
maintains a central electronic record of collection items from galleries registered in the official register and makes selected data available to the public in electronic form
processes and evaluates statistical and other data on galleries and basic professional activities and makes them available to the founders of galleries and the general public
assesses applications for the registration of galleries in the official register and verifies the conditions for performing basic professional activities in a gallery
provides professional assistance and advice to owners and managers of items of cultural value in the field of visual arts
The SNG fulfils its legally mandated functions within its capacities across all areas of professional activities through individual professional departments according to current needs and requirements in the form of professional consultations guidelines specialised events and other coordinating and methodological activities within the scope of its professional definition
Gallery facilities
The Slovak National Gallery maintains records of gallery facilities based on Section 7 Paragraph 5 Letter j of Act No 38/2014 Coll which amends and supplements Act No 206/2009 Coll on Museums and Galleries and on the Protection of Objects of Cultural Value and on the amendment of Act of the Slovak National Council No 372/1990 Coll on Offences as amended and which amends and supplements certain acts

Section 16a Museum facility or gallery facility
(1) A museum facility or gallery facility is a specialised legal entity or an organisational unit of a legal entity or a specialised facility that acquires objects of cultural value and makes them available to the public for the purposes of knowledge and aesthetic experience through specific means of museum presentation or gallery presentation.
(2) The founder or establisher of a museum facility or gallery facility is entitled to request the Slovak National Museum or the Slovak National Gallery for entry into the records of museum facilities or records of gallery facilities.
(3) A museum facility or gallery facility or the founder or establisher of a museum facility or gallery facility are entitled to request the Slovak National Museum or the Slovak National Gallery for professional guidance according to Section 7 Paragraph 5 Letter i or Paragraph 6 Letter i.
(4) The founder or establisher of a museum facility or gallery facility shall determine the focus and specialisation of the acquisition of objects of cultural value and the form of making objects of cultural value available in the deed of establishment the founding charter or the statutes.
(5) The founder or establisher of a museum facility or gallery facility that is recorded according to Paragraph 2 shall request removal from the records of museum facilities or records of gallery facilities after the dissolution of the museum facility or gallery facility.
An institution that concentrates and presents objects of a gallery nature which is not registered in the Register of Museums and Galleries of the Slovak Republic or was deleted from it is considered a gallery facility. The headquarters of such an institution is located on the territory of the Slovak Republic and its founder owner and manager can be any natural or legal person.
The records of gallery facilities are maintained by the Department of Digital Collections and Services of the SNG.
Entry into the records is performed electronically by filling out the registration form and sending it to the address register@sng.sk A registered gallery facility is assigned a registration number in the format GZ year of entry into the records / serial number of the entry in the given year.
