What lies behind the voice that mesmerizes world opera stages? What is Štefan Kocán like when he takes off his tailcoat and steps out of the shadow of grand opera characters? And what else fits into his life alongside music?
We invite you to an extraordinary encounter with Štefan Kocán, an internationally acclaimed opera singer, offering more than a traditional concert or interview. Across three interconnected parts, his artistic world, personal story, and aspects of his personality that remain hidden on the opera stage will gradually unfold.
1/ Voice – Opera Recital
A grand voice, great emotions, and music that strikes straight at the heart. The recital will offer an impressive musical journey through the opera repertoire, highlighting the majesty, depth, and rich timbre of Štefan Kocán's voice. From dramatic, monumental moments to lyrical passages and a captivating finale, the audience can look forward to a powerful artistic experience full of musical virtuosity, expression, and emotion. The voice itself will be the first key to getting to know the artist who captivates audiences on world opera stages with his art.
2/ Image – GEN Documentary
Following the musical experience comes the cinematic image – a more personal look at the artist, his world, and his journey. The documentary is not merely a pause between the concert and the interview, because behind every great artist lies a story. The documentary portrait GEN, directed by Soňa Ferancová, invites you to take a glimpse into the life of Štefan Kocán.
3/ Human – Talk Show
When the music fades and the film delivers its vision, the time comes for a personal encounter. Štefan Kocán "takes off his tailcoat" and presents himself in a more approachable light, in a conversation that goes beneath the surface. This will not be a tally of successes on world opera stages, but a lively, at times surprising, and playful talk show about life, relationships, passions, values, personal challenges, and unexpected contrasts. He will be interviewed by Soňa Ferancová – director of the GEN documentary, long-time friend, and creative partner, who knows him beyond the spotlight.
