Paper does not have to remain flat. By layering and modelling it, we can create both simple and more complex three-dimensional forms. The resulting object is built up gradually from numerous individual layers and pieces of paper.
Participants will learn the basic principle of the papier-mâché technique and create their own three-dimensional object. Through layering and modelling, they will experiment with volume, shape, and surface, exploring ways to transform an originally flat and fragile material into a solid sculptural form. The result will be their own paper sculpture or relief.
This creative activity builds on the first part of the workshop and introduces another way of working with paper. This time, however, participants will not simply shape the paper, but gradually build their own object from it.
