SNG Atlas - from storytelling to digital guide
Filip Ruisl, Katarína Vass (SNG)
SNG will present the Atlas SNG web app and its development process. Our initial goal was to create a platform for digital storytelling and a digital guide for visitors to learn about the works at SNG and navigate through exhibitions with videos. Through prototype development and testing after the new SNG opening, we identified the app's strengths and weaknesses. Based on the test findings, we made adjustments, redesigns, and added features like a scavenger hunt and artist profiles. This paper will discuss this process and its potential benefits for other institutions.
Visualizing collections using artificial intelligence
Torill Haugen (Kunstsilo) , Jørn Bersvendsen (Applica)
Kunstsilo and Applica's AI expert will present research results exploring the use of AI to discover new contexts in the collections of SKMU and SNG. The SKMU and SNG collections were used to train an AI model, which can then visualize the collections in the open-source application Collection Space Navigator. The presentation will cover the process, results, and challenges of the research. Following the presentation, there will be a discussion on how AI can be useful for working with collections, with Kunstsilo's Head of Collections Else-Brit Kroneberg and a representative from SNG.
Gamifying stories of art
Michal Čudrnák (SNG)
SNG is collaborating with Noha v Mede collective to create a game for the Sacred Art permanent exhibition. The game will allow visitors to explore St. Martin's Cathedral and the Jasov Monastery. They can learn about the cathedral and search for objects on a touch screen, including the Nativity of Christ high relief, originally part of the altar of this gothic cathedral and today one of the centrepieces of the exhibition. Visitors can also experience the Jasov Monastery through a sketch of the high altar painting of the Premonstratensian Church. Our goal is to provide visitors with information about the works' original function, location, and creation in a fun and simple way. In this paper, we will discuss the game concept, choice of studio, and the current stage of development.
