As a result, a collection of paintings, works on paper, graphic art and sculptures was assembled here, providing a representative cross-section of 20th-century Slovak art—or more precisely, of what was prioritised in art collecting activities between the 1950s and 1980s. Over time, this collection was somewhat forgotten, both in the Czech Republic and in Slovakia.
We believe that now is a fitting time not only to revive it, but more importantly, to present it to Slovak and Bratislava audiences, as well as to visitors of the capital city. The exhibition features all the key figures of modern Slovak art, led by Martin Benka, Mikuláš Galanda, Ľudovít Fulla, Cyprián Majerník, Rudolf Krivoš, Albín Brunovský and others. The exhibition is organised in collaboration between the Slovak National Gallery and the Karlovy Vary Gallery of Art.
