Štefan Kocán’s Only Performance in Slovakia This Year
The Slovak National Gallery presents an encounter with an artist who performs on the world’s most prestigious opera stages, but also with the man whose personal story lies behind his unmistakable voice. Through a combination of an opera recital, a documentary portrait and a talk show, visitors will have the opportunity to discover Štefan Kocán from several perspectives. The evening at the SNG will also be the artist’s only performance in Slovakia this year, offering an opportunity to combine a musical experience with a visit to the gallery and its current exhibitions and displays.
Three Parts of One Exceptional Evening
Voice will feature an opera recital showcasing the depth, richness of tone and expressive power of Kocán’s voice. The audience will have the opportunity to experience the unique artistry of a singer who represents Slovak opera on the stages of the world’s most prestigious opera houses.
Image will present a documentary portrait from the GEN series, directed by Soňa Ferancová. The film will explore the artist’s life journey and offer a more personal insight into the man behind the music.
The final part, Man, will feature a live talk show in which Štefan Kocán will reveal his personal side beyond the stage. The conversation will be led by renowned theatre director Soňa Ferancová. The discussion will go beyond his opera career, touching on life, relationships, passions, hobbies and values.
Štefan Kocán: Voice. Image. Man. offers more than an evening of music – it is an invitation to look behind the curtain of the great world of opera and discover an exceptional artist through three different perspectives.
With this event, the SNG continues its programme entitled SNG Concert Series, which brings together visual art and music within the gallery, offering visitors a unique opportunity to experience the gallery as a vibrant space where different art forms come together.
