Atlas SNG Application
As part of the project, we have developed an application atlas.sng.sk that enables SNG visitors to learn more about the exhibited works through simple codes, to save them to their collection, or to watch related videos. Based on testing and user research, we have added new features to Atlas – related author works, an artwork section, a zoom function, and Scavenger Hunt – a game that encourages users to discover works with common themes, and for which they can earn a reward. The app has also been entirely redesigned and made easier to use. In 2023, 11,000 people used the SNG Atlas app, spending an average of 3 minutes 30 seconds in it.
Educational Videos and Methodology
Other outputs of the project are 3 educational videos and methodological materials prepared by our Department of Gallery Pedagogy. The videos with methodology materials are primarily intended for teachers and their pupils, and feature the topics of migration, the position of women and minorities in society, and the transformation of society itself. The videos use the principles of digital storytelling in working with online collections, focusing on social and individual development through personal narrative and accompanying methodologies, and emphasising the fostering of empathy.
The digital storytelling format was developed by the SNG in collaboration with Storythings, a company that specialises in designing formats for the non-profit sector, media, museums, and galleries. A presentation of the outputs of the joint workshop can be viewed here.
