The Slovak National Gallery (SNG) – the emblematic gallery institution of Slovakia – is located on the Danube embankment in the centre of Bratislava in a complex of buildings that underwent impressive extension and reconstruction until late 2022. In addition to the distinct and valuable architecture, the SNG's hallmarks are its diverse collections comprising almost 90,000 objects, its four branches across Slovakia, and, above all, its constant search for new ways to create an open, inspiring, and up-to-date space for people and art.
This objective is reflected in our pursuit of quality and balanced exhibition and programme dramaturgy, solid research and publishing activities, professional care and meaningful expansion of art collections, innovative work with digital technologies, the education and cultural sensitisation of society, open and respectful communication, and numerous mutually beneficial collaborations.
The SNG also manages webumenia.sk/en – an online catalogue of digitised artworks from Slovak and Czech institutions – and provides a range of additional services. On the gallery premises, you can visit the relaxing café, Ex Libris bookshop at SNG, Reproshop with art supplies and artwork reproductions, Open Studio, SNG and AFAD Art History Library, and SNG Archive of Fine Arts.
In addition to the main gallery in Bratislava, the SNG encompasses other venues with their own character, location, and dramaturgy – Schaubmar Mill in Pezinok, Zvolen Castle, the Ľudovít Fulla Gallery in Ružomberok, and Mansion Strážky near Kežmarok.
