Freely open to all visitors, this wheelchair-accessible zone of the SNG offers a pleasant courtyard, a café with a children's corner, the Ex Libris bookshop at SNG, the Open Studio, relaxation areas, and toilets. The gallery’s ground floor also provides a shortcut between the riverfront and Hviezdoslavovo Square. In the (almost always) verdant courtyard you can relax, meet friends, gather for work, or simply enjoy the view of the Danube. Treat yourself to a cup of coffee, glass of wine, or cake from our artisanal café, which also provides indoor seating and a children's corner. The Ex Libris bookshop at SNG offers books about art and culture, quality Slovak literature for children and adults, SNG catalogues, and various desirable keepsakes.
The café, bookshop, and courtyard are open from Tuesday to Sunday between 10:00 and 18:00, but on Thursdays from 12:00 to 20:00. Every Saturday between 10:00 and 17:30 you can drop by our cozy space – the Open Studio, where you will find art tools, tutorials, and inspiration, as well as a relaxing area that can be transformed into a castle or a retro living room. Our tutors will assist with activities for all ages. Through the courtyard, you can reach the new Art History Library, created by merging the Library of the Slovak National Gallery with the Academic Library of the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. In this pleasant space with its scenic view, you can study art history literature, specialist periodicals, and documents from the collections of both libraries. Free registration is available on site.
